Major General , Engineer "Mokhtar Abdel Latif", Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, Dr. "Yasmine Fouad", Minister of Environment, and Major General "Hisham Amna", Minister of Local Development, discussed at the headquarters of the Arab Presidency for Industrialization the latest developments regarding the file of the integrated management system for municipal solid waste. At the level of the governorates of the Republic, including safe sanitary landfills, fixed and mobile intermediate stations, and removing historical accumulations.
During the meeting, aspects of cooperation between the Arab Organization for Industrialization and each of the Ministries of Environment and Local Development were reviewed, and a follow-up to the various implementation stages of the project was also signed. An annex to the contracts (the first, second, third and fourth phases) of the infrastructure of the hygiene system in the governorates was signed, this giant project that corresponds to Egypt's vision for sustainable development 2030 and the goals of the new republic.
In this regard, Major General., Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, stressed the importance of implementing the assignments of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to continue efforts to activate the new system for managing municipal solid waste, in light of the utmost importance that the state attaches to improving environmental, health and living conditions. For citizens, reducing pollution rates, as well as establishing a national waste management industry, and providing new job opportunities.
He explained that the new waste recycling system project represents a major quantum leap by finding a radical solution to the garbage problem, and it will have repercussions on the sustainable development plan, noting that the Arab Organization for Industrialization has studied, in cooperation with the relevant ministries, the waste management file as a national security issue, pointing out that the plan has been achieved. Sustainability and continuity.
He added that the experiences of developed countries were reviewed in this context, to get acquainted with the latest technologies and methods, explaining that the role of Arab Industrialization is to provide equipment and machinery for intermediate stations of all kinds for the infrastructure of the system in an integrated and central manner, in addition to the establishment of fixed intermediate stations, and the design and construction of safe sanitary landfills And the evacuation of random dumps, stressing that the design of the system was carried out in accordance with all standard and environmental conditions and specifications, taking into account the civilized appearance.
"Mokhtar Abdel Latif" stated that the implementation of sanitary landfills is carried out using innovative methods, stressing the need to deepen the local manufacture of many equipment by benefiting from advanced global expertise in this field.
He added that we are partners in one team seeking to complete the work successfully, praising the efforts made by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Local Development in continuous coordination with all partners in the system.
For her part, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, emphasized at the beginning of the meeting the continuous coordination and cooperation between the Ministries of Environment and Local Development in the integrated management of the municipal solid waste system, overcoming all obstacles, and working on evaluating this system in terms of planning and implementation on the ground in order to achieve results. Concrete and study the costs of the system and evaluate them continuously.
The Minister of Environment also praised the continuous cooperation and coordination with the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Ministry of Local Development, working as one fabric and keenness to achieve a great achievement in the municipal solid waste file, as well as the role played by the Arab Organization for Industrialization in implementing the integrated management system for municipal solid waste at the governorate level, stressing the need Commitment to the schedule specified in the implementation of the system, adding that the more control and maximum utilization of the available financing resources to operate recycling plants, landfills and intermediate stations at the level of infrastructure within the governorates and the completion of existing projects, the sooner we will be able to achieve the set schedule.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of the Environment, stated that the goals and some implementation mechanisms have been developed to keep pace with current and future changes, which will complete the infrastructure in a way that does not affect the efficiency of implementing the system by setting a set of priorities for work during the coming period, to complete the operation of the infrastructure, stressing The need to make maximum use of the available financing resources to operate recycling plants, landfills and intermediate stations within the governorates for existing projects, for which lands have already been allocated and work to be completed before the end of the current year, and to redirect the financing resources allocated to operating landfills and the remaining factories for the next year, to implement the management system file Integrated municipal solid waste at the ongoing infrastructure level at the provincial level.
Major General Hisham Amna stressed that the ministry is following up the efforts of the governorates to remove millions of tons of waste in a safe and healthy manner, pointing to the keenness of the Ministry of Local Development to speed up the operation of infrastructure projects with the solid waste system from recycling factories and safe sanitary landfills in a number of governorates, which have been received and completed. Among them, pointing out that the ministry gives priority to the completion of a number of projects that have already begun to be implemented on the land of the governorates within the framework of the new system and to provide the necessary financial funds for operating contracts in a way that does not affect the efficiency of implementing the system by setting a set of priorities for work.
The Minister of Local Development stressed the importance of adhering to the timelines set for the implementation of the projects agreed upon within the first, second, third and fourth stages of the system, which include a number of safe sanitary landfills and the removal of waste accumulations in a number of governorates of the Republic, adding: We all have one goal, which is to implement the directives of the political leadership.
