President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met  with General Abdel Moneim El-Terras, President of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI). According to an official statement by the Presidential spokesman; Ambassador Bassam Radi, during the meeting President El-Sisi and El-Terras discussed all developments related to the activities, plans and projects of the Arab Organization for Industrialization in various fields, as well as existing cooperation frameworks in this regard with a number of Arab and foreign countries. The Presidential Spokesman also stated that President El-Sisi called for continuity of all efforts of developing and modernizing the AOI in order to meet the requirements of the sustainable development plans in Egypt, and in line with the policy of achieving optimal utilization of resources and developing local industrialization. President El-Sisi also discussed with El-Terras recent AOI’s efforts to cooperate with various international companies and strengthening the industrial partnership with them as well as exchanging relevant experiences, including what contributes to the transfer and localization of technology in Egypt, in the context of the importance of the role played by the AOI in the field of industry and participation in the implementation of national and development projects in the country, as a national industrial institution qualified with Human potential and manufacturing base. On the other hand, Ambassador Bassam Radi said that the Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization presented during the meeting the latest researches and industrial projects in the civil and military fields, indicating that the organization is keen to apply the highest international quality standards and specifications in its production lines, so that its activity in civil manufacturing extends to the infrastructure sectors, especially in fields of transportation, cars, electric trains, electronics, information technology, smart systems, and renewable energy. General Abdel Moneim El-Terras also reviewed the existing partnership of the AOI with authorities in a number of Arab and foreign countries, besides opening of new frameworks for joint cooperation and exchange of experiences with it, in light of the capabilities of the AOI and the production of its factories of high-quality products.

The Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) signed on Thursday an MoU with the China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO) on technology localisation in Egypt.   Abdul-Meniem Al-Toras, the chairman of AOI, said that the MoU was signed as part of the AOI's ongoing plan to upgrade and improve its production with the latest technologies in different industries. He also added this cooperation between AOI and NORINCO would meet the needs of the Egyptian Armed Forces, as well as in upgrading the railway control and signalling systems. Chi Le, the representative of NORINCO in Egypt, said that his company is looking forward to cooperating with the AOI in different fields.

  Egypt's Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) has signed an MoU with the South Korean firm Gwangju Techno Park company to localise technology and boost investment opportunities between both countries. According to a statement issued by the AOI on Friday, the memorandum aims to increase the added value of industries that support comprehensive development plans, fill the importing gap and increase investment opportunities. AIO Chairman Abdel-Moneim El-Tarras stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership with international expertise in implementation of the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on localising technology and increasing the proportion of local components in manufacturing. The agreements came on the sidelines of Egyptian participation in an investor’s conference, under the auspices of the G20’s Compact with Africa initiative, being held in Berlin. Al-Tarras said the participation of an Egyptian ministerial delegation and group of senior Egyptian businessmen and industry representatives came within the framework of Egypt’s growing importance on the international scene. “Egypt’s position in the Africa continent looks like the German one in the European Union, so when the two countries meet, that opens the door for economic cooperation and partnership between the countries of two continents,” he stressed. Egypt launches electric smart bus manufacturing system   Egypt's Arab Organisation for Industrialisation launched on Monday the electric smart bus manufacturing system in cooperation with China's Wanxiang Group Corporation and Egypt's Transport Company Mowasalat Masr. Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad attended the launch event alongside representatives from Shanghai Wanxiang, Mowasalat Masr, United Investment Company, and the Public Transport Authority. The launching of the new buses is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation, Mowasalat Masr, and Shanghai Wanxiang in May 2019. Shanghai Wanxiang is one of the largest Chinese companies specialised in the manufacturing of electric buses. Mowasalat Masr is a leading company providing intelligent public transport services in accordance with international standards. Shanghai Wanxiang praised the positive steps taken by the Egyptian state to introduce electric buses, adding that Egypt's location qualifies it to be a regional centre and exporter of electric vehicles in the coming years. "Cooperation and partnership between Cairo and Beijing is witnessing a strategic leap in the field of transport and enabling smart electric bus technology," Wu Wei, the CEO of Wanxiang Group, said during the event. Last Month, two electric bus prototypes were produced in Egypt by the military production ministry as part of the first phase of an agreement to manufacture the vehicles in Egypt. Egypt also signed an agreement with China’s Foton Motor company in April during President El-Sisi's visit to China.  The two sides agreed that Egypt would receive the necessary technology to manufacture electric bus, and that 2,000 buses would be manufactured in an Egyptian military factory over four years. According to the agreement, China will also provide Egypt with 50 buses. The first two arrived last month. Electric transportation is part of the sustainable development goals that Egypt aims to achieve in accordance with the country's  Sustainable Development Strategy 2030. More environment-friendly and less costly in maintenance, electric buses run on chemical energy stored in rechargeable battery packs. Last July, Egyptian state officials inaugurated the country's first electric bus in Alexandria governorate. Egypt's first electric vehicle charging station was opened in Cairo in February. The unit is owned by Revolta Egypt, a developer of electric charging infrastructure and other electric vehicle-related projects.
